There
is no better place to live...
There
are many reasons we call Santa Monica home. Located about
30 minutes from Downtown Los Angeles and set along nearly
three miles of panoramic Pacific Coastline, Santa Monica
is home to over 80,000 residents. Yet despite our proximity
to a metropolitan area of millions, our community seems many
worlds away.
As residents, we can boast about one
of the most pleasant climates found
anywhere. In fact, summer temperatures
seldom exceed 80 degrees, while winter
temperatures rarely venture below 60
degrees. The over 300 days of sunshine
per year provides an abundance of opportunities,
including, biking and skating along
the 22-mile long beach bike path, strolling
the historic Santa Monica Pier, shopping
the many wonderful neighborhood districts,
or simply walking through our tree-lined
residential streets.
Over the past few years, Santa Monica
has become a creative gathering spot
of sorts. From scores of art galleries,
think tank organizations, high technology
businesses, and over 400 restaurants,
Santa Monica has indeed grown well beyond
the small resort town founded over 100
years ago.
Today, Santa Monica is a sophisticated
and politically active community with
a fiercely independent city council.
In addition to administering a state
of the art aviation operation and award
winning public transportation system,
Santa Monica boasts of one the finest
school systems in all of Southern California.
Furthermore, with an increasingly diverse
and innovative population, Santa Monica
is an incredibly cosmopolitan city that
welcomes millions of visitors a year
who come to visit the famous shopping
districts and restaurants, numerous
farmers markets, and of course, unparalleled
sandy beaches. All of this, while retaining
the fundamental essence as Southern
California's quintessential beach town.
